There’s every chance that you may have arrived in Christchurch, New Zealand with the sole objective of relaxing … taking time out to unwind, a good book and a selection of fine Canterbury wine may be just the ticket – but if you are looking for something else to do you can choose from a smorgasbord of things to do in the surrounding region of Canterbury.

Take a step back in time and ride the rails. Take a ride on a steam train or tram, visit one of the rail museums in the region, or travel to, from or through Christchurch by rail.
